A Few of My Favorite Apps
I am the App Queen! I love how they increase productivity by automatizing certain aspects of my life, or offloading my memory into workable space, freeing up my time and attention for what really matters. These are a few of my absolute favorites.
Their tagline is "If you can quantify it, you can Beemind it." Very true! I've been using Beeminder since the end of 2014. In that time, it has helped me learn enough French to speak with our French exchange student, to learn how to play bass guitar from scratch, to write more consistently, to exercise regularly, and to try out new habits with reasonable effort without forgetting them. One of the best productivity and habit apps I've ever used. Highly recommended!
Their tagline is "Organize your mind." I just started using this app, but it's already helped me organize my thinking. It's super intuitive, clean, and avoids cognitive overload. It's free unless you have a lot of lists.
According to their website, "Scrivener is a powerful content-generation tool for writers that allows you to concentrate on composing and structuring long and difficult documents. While it gives you complete control of the formatting, its focus is on helping you get to the end of that awkward first draft."
Personally, I have found it helpful to arrange parts of my manuscripts and easily move them around. Can be used for scholarly and creative writing projects, including novels, books, and screenplays.
From their website: "A place where all your mundane but important reminders can go without cluttering your calendar."
I've used this app forever, and now I have my high school-aged son using it as well. It's a brilliant, deceptively simple app that easily adds nagging reminders that won't go away until you manually dismiss them. The reminders show up on your devices and have helped me remember to do so many things, especially things like, questions to ask my doctor during our visit, supplies my son needs for school, a birthday phone call to my niece, a reminder to get to the gym, to give my dog her monthly heartworm pill, I've even used it as a reminder to make myself go to bed. I LOVE this app and am highly dependent on it. Plus it has a bunch of timers you can present for things like interval training, tea brewing, etc. Love, love, love!
These are my personal opinions. I have not received any type of compensation from any of these businesses.
