Named one of the most innovative universities in the country, UCF has been my home since 2002. Unlike many universities, new projects and ways of thinking are embraced here, and it's been a great fit for me.
EdD in Curriculum & Instruction
I currently serve as program coordinator for this UCF professional practice doctorate. It's such an innovative program, founded on the principles of the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate, and I adore the diverse variety of students who journey through this program.
Applied Learning & Instruction MA
An applied educational psychology master's program at UCF I co-created that can be completed fully online. I love how we get a mix of educators, trainers, and industry folks all interested in applying the latest research on cognition, development, and learning to their fields.
Galileo School for Gifted Learning
A K-8 charter school I founded in Sanford, FL open to all county students. Our goal is to nurture the unique gifts of all our students. in 2015, Galileo School won the APA Golden Psi award in recognition of its strong research based grounded in sound developmental principles.
The Educational Psychology of the American Psychological Association, one of the main professional organizations I serve. I have been a committee chair, program co-chair, executive committee member and Treasurer. Membership is free the first year for educational psychologists and teachers.
Coalition for Psychology in Schools and Education
An organization within APA that helps to make psych research related to education publicly available. Their Top 20 Principles for Pre-K to 12 Education report distills fundamental psych principles to help improve learning and instruction.
